WILLIAM KENTRIDGE (South African, b. 1955)

William Kentridge is a multimedia artist known for his films, sculptures, prints, and drawings. His works on paper accompany his work as an opera set designer and director, as well as a film animator. Although politically motivated by a life spent in South Africa during apartheid, Kentridge also finds inspiration in avant-garde theater and the art history of satire. His work is in collections worldwide.
